Although it is by the sea, La Grande Mare is not a links course, having been developed on land with a clay and peat base. La Grande Mare’s full 18 hole Parkland style course is designed by Fred Hawtree and Sons, one of the most respected golf course architects in the world.

Your first impression is of a course which is short and easy to master. After your first round, however, this impression will change and, whilst beginners and intermediate players can enjoy a good round, the course proves a stern test even for advanced players. Water hazards and other obstructions on the course mean that every shot needs to be thought out thoroughly before executing.

For those ornithologists amongst you, enjoy the Mallards, Moorhens, Hooper Swans, Brent Geese and many other migratory birds which strut the fairways and feed in the lakes.
